Playing Time Policy
Mequon-Thiensville Cardinal Football strives to develop all of our players so that they continue to play in high school AND ensure that they are well prepared to contribute when they arrive there. Every student-athlete will play meaningful minutes at all four grade levels.
Playing time will depend on a variety of issues and will not be equal. However, if every player demonstrates that they are committed to their team through a variety of facets, they will play meaningful minutes in every game.
The following criteria will be used by our head coaches to determine playing time:
o Attends and is on time for all practices except when having an excused absence (academic, health or family reasons)
o Provides excellent effort both physically and mentally
o Understands the plays and concepts taught in practice
o Maintains respectable behavior (parental input)
Youth football games move fast and depending on roster size, there may be games where playing time is less/more than others. Our coaches strive to ensure that when that occurs to alter future rotations to make up for any games where playing time was more difficult to manage due to the pace or competitiveness of any individual game.
The development of our players takes place in games AND practices, and the players’ effort and attention in practice can greatly impact how the coaches are able to use them in the games.
